A snow-white alligator was born in the zoo of the American state of Florida. This was reported by the Gatorland Zoo in Orlando in the social network X.
The newborn girl weighs 96 grams, and her length is just under 100 centimeters. It is noted that a boy of normal colour was born along with her. It is claimed that this is the first case of captive birth of an alligator with leukaemia – a mutation that causes partial loss of pigmentation of the outer skin. There are a total of eight such individuals in the world. “It’s not just ‘rare,’ it’s absolutely extraordinary!” — reported zoo president and CEO Mark McHugh.
